I'm Lyndsay, 22 years old trying to change my life a pound at a time.
I started at 256lbs and have made a promise to myself to never go back there. I'm from Glasgow but currently live in Barcelona to work as an English Assistant in a school. I started with weight watchers which I did for about a year and lost 50lbs. I'm doing it on my own here in Barcelona, it's been a struggle to get started but now I feel like I'm in the zone and I want to be at goal weight for June 2014.

Share with us one of your favorite tumblr fitness / weight loss inspirations? What about them inspires you and how are you applying that to your journey?

deathbyfluff is my absolute favourite blog on this website. Not only has she done incredibly well on her weight loss journey, but she takes everything in her stride and inspires me by showing me that it is possible, and i will get there eventually if i keep going! Generally just an excellent blog that you should all be following. She seems so lovely and down to earth too :)

I’m applying Crosbys experiences to my own, just knowing i’ll get there bit by bit and yeah it will take longer than expected and yeah ill have to deal with a lot of things like loose skin but the way in which she remains focused keeps me motivated! It’s always a nice feeling to see someone achieve what you want to do, and know that you can!

Let’s take stock of where we are 3+ weeks into the challenge. This is about where people may be tempted to give in. (It is sure where I have given in in the past.) 

  • How is the challenge going for you so far?

Well I fell totally off track, like i suppose a lot of people do three weeks in. i went home to Scotland for Easter and for 10 days I didnt work out, ate out so many times, drank a lot of alcohol and basically didnt even consider the word moderation. i’m frustrated, I weighed myself early this morning before my flights and I’m back up to 204lbs. My lowest has been 197 a few months ago. I’m allowing myself a short period of time to be mad but starting tomorrow I’m being accountable and just gonna focus on getting back down to a weight I KNOW i can do!

  • What is going well that you want to continue? 

I havent touched coffee the whole month of April so my sugar intake is much less. I’ve also kept on track with my drinking at least 2L of water a day, give or take 1/2 days when I was home but I made a point to drink more water. I was doing really well before I went home for the holidays, just need to get back to that routine.

  • What is not going well that you want to change?

Going home fucked me up, but it was totally my decision and when i eat with friends socially i tend to go overboard. need to change that. Will be a focus for May because I have a lot of visitors coming to Barcelona and we’ll be eating out a lot.

  • What help do you need?

I need will power and some goddamn accurate scales so i can measure properly any progress. I’ve been using different scales all over the place.

  • What help can you offer?

first thing first im going to buy myself scales and weigh in the same time same place every week and not get discouraged by the number. I’ll make a quick note but im just gonna keep focussing on my graduation target.

Our theme for this week is going to be Motivation and Staying Positive. 

Let’s get started with our weekly challenge. Pick one of the following challenges to complete some time during the week. When you have completed it, come back and blog about it.  

Option 1 – Think about it! Spend five minutes every day this week thinking about your goals. Think about what you have to do to make your goals a reality. Write down positive affirmations about you hitting your goals. Investing these 35 minutes will help you get and stay on track. 

Option 2 –  Form a small group. Reach out to 3-5 people and form a small support group. This can be here or IRL. Small groups may tend to be more comfortable and let you tackle tough issues. 

Option 3 – Kill a demon. This is an exercise in animal release. What is really holding you back? Find it and kill it! Perhaps you have an unhealthy addiction to potato chips. If so, empty your house of them - burn them, blow them up, do something to get them out of your life in a dramatic fashion. (I’d love to see some pictures of this in action!)

Option 4 – Construct a motivation photo journal. It can be pictures you took or others did. The point is to get visual and express what motivates you.

Day 24 - We all have bad days. What do you do to get yourself out of a funk? I’m looking for some concrete ideas others can try out when they are down.

Day 25 - Today, lets talk a little about positive self talk. Are you generally positive or negative with yourself? Do you have any tips for being nicer to yourself?

Day 26 - Post a few of your favorite motivational quotes. Tell us why they “speak” to you. 

Day 27 - Share one, non-tumblr thing that motivates and inspires you. It could be a book, a person, a song. Share it with us. 

Day 28 - Weekly report time! Weekly reports are a critical part of my success so far. They are a form of public accountability and can help you make adjustments as you go.

its all been a little hectic being home for easter, packing and flying back to barcelona early tomorrow morning.
I know today was weigh in day but i didnt have access to scales. Ill weigh in tomorrow when i get up. I know ill be taking a heavy gain, as im sure the scales in barcelona werent accurate (plus ive eaten like a pig since being home and had basically no exercise).

Im sick of getting a little bit of a loss, then fucking up and gaining 2 or 3 times what i lose! Is incredibly frustrating but its my own doing and I need to be accountable. I get back to Barcelona tomorrow. A fresh start for the new term and I am determined to get below 14 stone before Primavera festival (May 28th).

I’m going to the gym Wednesday morning and right back into my routine. I’m also going to speak to a trainer at the gym and hopefully they can help me create a program to maximise my workout and boos my weight loss again!

Once I have regular internet access Ill be back on track with the challenge. Stay with me!

What exercise is your “biggest demon?” The one thing you have always wanted to do but struggled with but vow you will do someday!  

Running. I love the idea of running and I know how good it is for you. I just can’t love it. I try and try. On the treadmill I do what I can and im training for my first 5K just now so I’m pushing through. I really want to enjoy outdoor running but im always worried about the route i would take, or people looking (which I know is silly). I suppose I’m just gonna have to get out there and do it!

Sorry guys but I didnt really have any ideas, I just do your basic exercise and go to classes everyone has already heard about. I’ve had a bit of a hectic week being home for the holidays. eating out a lot, drinking a few nights and going to a BBQ tomorrow. I know I’ll take a gain next week but when I get back to Barcelona I’m going beast mode because I need to get my ass in gear and train for this 5K
It’s my first ever race, I want to be confident :)

 Have you ever been involved in a big exercise event, like a Spartan Race, Warrior Dash, Century Ride, Marathon or any other public spectacle? Do you aspire to take any of these on? (Bonus points if you register for one right now!)

I’m registered for the Colour Run (5K) in Barcelona on the 18th of May. Which means I have about a month to go. I’m really nervous, its my first race ever and I don’t really have a lot of experience running outside. I’m hoping the motivation of lots of people running together, and the whole colour thing will keep me going. I don’t care about time, how slow I go etc my only goal is to not stop or walk, I just want to keep running/jogging the whole 5K. I really need to make a sponsor form though!
